Zelenski kaže da
ne zna šta se desilo sa 100 milijardi dolara. Po njemu oni to nikada nisu dobili. Bar ne što se tiče novca. Možda kao vrednost u oružija? Ko će to znati
“Ukraine has only received military aid from Washington for about 75 to 76 billion dollars, while some American leaders speak of higher figures,” the president said on his Telegram channel.
In January, US President Donald Trump denounced that the White House had spent 200 billion dollars more on defense assistance to Ukraine than other NATO member countries.
“I hear, before and now, that the United States has given Ukraine hundreds, 177 billion dollars to be exact. I tell you as the president of a country at war: we have (not ?) received more than 75 billion dollars,” Zelensky said. He added that the other 100 billion “of those 177 or even 200, as some say, we never received.”
The Ukrainian head of state acknowledged that, to date, they have received a lot of help, “but it is not 200 billion, let’s be honest,” he said, explaining that Kiev receives the assistance “not in money, but in weapons.” “But when they say that Ukraine received 200 billion during the war to support the Army, which is not true. I do not know where all that money is. “Maybe it’s true in terms of how it looks on paper,” he suggested.
Zelensky also commented on Washington’s recent freeze of aid through the US Agency for International Development programs in the energy field, medicine, and others, and stated that he would compensate for all these needs from the country’s “internal resources.”
The Ukrainian leader detailed that the state received between $300 and $400 million as part of these programs, “not so big money, but important. And we are going to close this. I will close it with the Europeans or with internal resources, it is important for me,” Zelensky said. “There are a large number of other projects that I know nothing about.
Probably the US president will do an audit and say that other billions were allocated. But I don’t know where they went,” he concluded.
Trump’s assertions and Zelensky’s responses come at a time when the impeachment processes in Ukraine of military leaders for corruption schemes, including the diversion of foreign funds, are increasing.
