Therese Keys, Plaza Centers: Romania and Serbia have huge potential for new retail developments
Therese Keys, CEE management and leasing director, Plaza Centers, gives Retailnet an exclusive comment about the company’s new projects.
“Apart from working on strengthening the tenant mix in the existing shopping centers in Poland, Latvia and the Czech Republic, Plaza Centers is currently focusing on developing new shopping centers in Poland, Romania and Serbia. We view these countries as having huge potential for new retail developments with a large demand both from tenants and from future customers.
Within the next few months, we are planning to start construction on Timisoara Plaza in Romania. It will be a 3- storey shopping center with a GLA of 38,000 sq m consisting of a hypermarket, cinema and entertainment zone, 110 shops with a large offer from the fashion, health & beauty, sports and other sectors, as well as a large foodcourt complete with an outdoor terrace. Opening of the center is planned for mid 2016.
Next in the pipeline, is Belgrade Plaza with a GLA of 32,000 sq m on 3-storeys. Belgrade Plaza will also have a cinema and entertainment zone, as well as a fitness centre. Two levels of the shopping center will be leased to retailers from a variety of sectors, with an emphasis on well-known international fashion brands. Opening of the center is planned for 2016.
For both projects we are in advanced stages of negotiations with key anchor tenants from the hypermarket, fashion, electronics, sports and entertainment sectors. Each project will have a cinema and entertainment zone, as well as a foodcourt.
Plaza Centers has a long-standing co-operation with many international retail chains. We work closely with our current and future tenants to ensure that our retail developments further their expansion plans. This is also the case in our projects in Romania and Serbia where we have received very positive feedback from tenants.
During Shopping Center Forum 2014, we will present all of our existing and planned projects. We are also in discussions with many Polish retailers who have already entered the Latvian, Czech, Romanian and Serbian markets or who are planning to expand to these countries in the upcoming years.”
The Shopping Center Forum Fall Edition 2014 will be held on 17-18 September in Warsaw. It’s a regular meeting of retailers and shopping center developers organized since 2005. It’s the largest event of its kind in Central Europe. It takes place twice a year: in Winter/Spring (1 day) and Fall (2 days). Inače Merkur u Mirijevskom Bulevaru je ugašen, a i one radnje ne rade baš najbolje.
